What is RSS

Submitted by Asif on Monday, 18 January 2010One Comment

There are so many people who don’t know what  RSS is, there are people who even don’t know what a blog is.

I also know that there are many bloggers who have written about what a blog and RSS is.

But still, I wanted to write it on my blog for my new readers. So people who know what RSS is and how does it work, please bear it with me.

RSS is nothing bcut a medium by whih you can get feeds of your favorite websites. You can collect the content of a website at one place, or in other sense you can say RSS is a content provider. You don’t need to go to different websites to read, RSS does your work, it brings it to you. It collects everything at one place. The full form could be said as Rich Site Summary (RSS).

There are two types of feeds, Full Feeds and Partial Feeds.

There has always been a discussion about which feed is the best, however, I use full feeds for my blogs.

There are two ways you can get updates of your favorite website or blog

1) RSS

2) Via Email

Not going to the technicalities, I would like to tell you how RSS works.

PS: I’ll write an eBook to show how to promote your blog, and I will include this topic too.

For example, if you liked a site and you want to read it daily as it gets updated on a daily basis, you can’t always remember to visit so many sites. So RSS helps you a lot. Just grab the feed of that site or blog to your favorite Feed Reader.

Well, I use Google Reader and would recommend it to all of you because it is just like Gmail. Where you get feeds from your favorite sites just like you get an email in your Gmail inbox.

Take look at both screenshots:

So put the feeds of your favorite site or blog to your Google Reader and you will get feeds from the site whenever it is updated. Now you don’t need to worry about missing something which you don’t want to miss.

There are few merits of reading the content in feed reader rather than reading it directly on site.

In one window only, you get to read everything.

All the content is in plain text form, only links and pictures in blog post are shown.

No particular blog design comes to your feed reader.

How you can get AsioGroups in your Feed Reader

Asiogroups provides full feeds of the content and its subscription is free. You will get only the content of this blog nothing else. There are to way to get updates of this blog.

Subscribe it in a Reader

OR

Get updates via Email

Both are free and can be done by clicking on the links.

If you start using a feed reader, you will start enjoying it. Do share you experience with us in comments.
